Cuffed is about two black high school boys who get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time by the police. Although they escape, their freedom does not last very long. My deepest fear used to be becoming another statistic on the news. Shot. Killed. Gone… I still struggle with those thoughts. When I find myself in that headspace, I sometimes will imagine myself attempting to overcome scenarios in which I would need to survive… The idea or message of the film is to consider that there are many black people or people of color that feel as though they are living in a perpetual time loop of trauma on a daily basis.
When a young couple test positive for COVID-19 together and Mac loses his sense of taste and smell, the two are forced to navigate their relationship in isolation and discover the beauty that hides in the absence of the mundane.
